- Contract Law Course
The “Contracts Law” course covers the law of contract and the vocabulary needed by lawyers working in this area of law. The course uses video-conference technology to deliver brief online speaking, reading and listening exercises and tasks. The exercises in each lesson include a variety of different multiple choice tasks. These are designed to help participants understand and learn the correct use of vocabulary through its use in simulated work scenarios that occur in the daily working lives of lawyers in practice. All of your results are retained in our online archive from which the participants and their employers can visit to check the rate of improvement.
Land and Mortgage Law English
The essential law and terminology of Real Property with a 15 units interactive online course teaching the essentials of legal English words, phrases and laws needed by lawyers working in the area of Property and Mortgages.
The course covers both freehold and leasehold law of the UK, US and India relating to title, possession, rights over land, inheritance, licences, possession and easements. The course also includes explanations of the Archaic Latin and Norman French legal words relating to land and interests on land and the vocabulary of sales and transfers of land. This is an excellent knowledge base for lawyers working in Property law.
Intellectual Property English
The “Legal English of IP Law” presents the essential law and key legal English terminology with lessons covering reading, writing, listening and speaking. The lessons are held online. The course covers the wide range of technical and legal words and phrases used in this area of law equipping the students to work in this rapidly developing field of Law.
The course contains units covering the essential laws which every International IP Lawyer should know in order to work effectively in this sphere. This includes the law of Patents, Copyright, e-commerce, Domain Names, Design law, International implications of the law as well as practical skills such as drafting IP agreements, IP due diligence and the rapidly evolving Internet related law. All the teachers and trainers are either qualified British Barristers or Solicitors in private practice with experience of IP Law and as such they understand the questions and tasks that clients are likely to ask lawyers to assist with.
The course requires 16 hours of lesson time plus another 8 to 10 hours of private study time using interactive study exercises submitted through the Internet and e-mail over the period of the course. As an extra aid to the students, an additional package of one-to-one private training is available for an extra fee. This private training is conducted by a video-conference discussions of 15 minutes each week, scheduled at times suitable for the student with a qualified lawyer. These sessions are to emphasize the correct use of the vocabulary, practice pronunciation and speaking and to answer technical legal questions as well as setting additional legal drafting exercises.
- Cambridge University Legal English Certificate (ILEC)
This course prepares its students for work as Lawyers in commercial law offices where English is the working language. The full course contains 60 hours of lessons plus 50 hours of home study tasks and a further 25 hours of tasks involving International Legal Research to cement the participant’s ability to practice International law. These lessons explain how to use legal English words and phrases correctly and in-turn increases knowledge and ability of the participants by requiring to read, watch, listen and speak. The course also uses the textbook and CD's of International Legal English published by Cambridge University Press. The course is intended also as preparation for the Cambridge University International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) Exam which is now held monthly in different cities around the world.
The course teaches legal English vocabulary and basic Commercial Law and also develops the professional skills the participants will need to work as a lawyer in a Professional Law Practice.
Contract and Legal Document Drafting Course
The essentials of writing clear documents and contracts covering basic vocabulary and phrases which are most often used in legal documents such as contracts and other agreements. It provides explanations of the meaning and use of archaic legal English, including Latin and Norman French.
This 15 units interactive online course is used to teach the essential skills of drafting clear contracts, including the key elements of English contract law and terminology. The course includes basic contracts, non-competition and confidentiality agreements, assignments and third party rights, guarantees, indemnities, warranties, conditions and other contract terms. Rights, remedies and enforce-ability are covered in online lessons. The course exercises which make up most of the home tasks help participants learn the vocabulary and phrases through context testing and reinforcement. The production of written material by the students is emphasized to test and expand their legal drafting ability. All the Instructors are either practising British lawyers, working in the area of Commercial and Contract Law or experienced teachers of Law and Legal English.
Company and Corporate Law
The 15 units course covering the law, meaning and use of the essential Legal English words and phrases needed by lawyers working in the field of company/corporate law and other business structures. The course includes both the law and practical instructions on how to form companies, issue shares and capitalization, the duties and powers of directors and how companies are governed and make decisions. The course covers the law and the practical aspects and documentation of Mergers and Acquisitions, company closures and sale of assets. All the teachers and trainers are either qualified British Barristers or Solicitors with experience of Corporate Law and giving them an understanding of the questions and tasks your clients are likely to ask you to perform.
Legal English Vocabulary - Free course
The free course “Legal English Vocabulary” presents the essential key legal English terminology in 8 lessons over the space of two months. The lessons are held online via webinars allowing participants to join in with questions about meaning and pronunciation. The course covers the wide range of technical and legal words and phrases used in the administration of both general law and company and commercial law, equipping the students to work in an international environment.
All the teachers and trainers are either qualified British Barristers or Solicitors, in private practice as commercial lawyers and as such they understand the questions and vocabulary that causes problems for lawyers who are not native English speakers.
The course is delivered through 8 lessons at the rate of one lesson each week, spread over the course of two months. The lessons are in the form of webinars and are designed to emphasize the correct use of the vocabulary, practice pronunciation and speaking and to answer technical legal questions from the participants about the legal meaning of the words and phrases contained in the course.

The British Legal Centre’s Legal Writing Course is a 15 unit interactive online course teaching the essential skills of drafting clear, precise letters, documents and contracts. This includes the basic skills of structuring and formatting, correct grammar and style which assists you to make all that you write to be of clear concise and easy to understand.
All the differing requirements of all types of letters and legal documents are dealt with stressing on the common rule of being easily understood. The course presents key written communication skills in a series of lessons following detailed reading and listening passages. This course exercises involve the production of typical work-place documents that are required to write in their daily work. There is a heavy emphasis on the production of written material by the students to test and expand their legal drafting ability. The trainers provide detailed feedback on the home tasks and all are either practising British lawyers, working in the area of Commercial and Contract Law or experienced teachers of Law and Legal English.
